Yep, that's me! The grown geek with a few actors (Elijah Woods and Sean Astin) that slightly remind me of a few hobbits I've seen. Ever since I started playing D&D back in 1977, I was mesmerized by the idea of creating my own middle earth. After spending 3 decades of making notes, I developed & outlined 6 book series with 6 books each that all interweaved in the same realm. It was only then, after all the pieces of the puzzle were worked out, that I started to write the stories.
Paranormal Intrigue
I've had the pleasure of chatting with Steve Gonsalves (Ghost Hunters / TAPS) a few times. Growing up in a house that we felt was haunted (I'll tell you about those encounters at another time), I've always been curious about the paranormal. As part of an investigative team for several years, I was that guy who would always debunk a potential specter... until I had my own unique encounter (Again, a story for another day). My interest in how the paranormal and science overlap fills many pages within my novels.
Comic Books were my first love
Okay, maybe just my first love of reading. Growing up with severe dyslexia back in the 70's was brutal. Schools didn't really have much training for many reading challenges. Knowing it would take me several months to read a novel in order to get my adventure fix, I often turned to comic books to scratch that itch. Thanks to Stan Lee and many other talented writers, I often found myself lost in the tales of superheroes, and I have noticed that some of that has bled into many of my characters.
Movies & TV shows changed my life
I can't compare Star Trek to Star Wars, because I enjoy them both. One is more true science fiction and the other is more space fantasy. I love movies & TV series about heroes overcoming the odds, time travel, Twilight Zone plot twists, massive creatures, characters that use their brains to win, and seeing the growth of the protagonist. So when I started writing, I made sure to add all of these and so much more into my stories.
